How long does a water heater last?
Once a water heat has exceeded the age of 10 years its operating efficiency diminishes by 50%. Electric water heaters will normally last 8-10 years, while gas water heaters may only be good for 6-8 years. If your water heater has lasted longer it is good to check for any symptoms that may implicate that your water heater is on its way out.
